That is correct. I was confused by the directions, but I put the liquid on the sticky side and it helped with sliding it in place. I think you will use the a plastic piece to squeeze out the water and bubbles from the film. The final step is to use a blow dryer. Installing this film was pretty easy.

Yes, good call; have forgotten what its like to be that cold :-) Another option is to soak in a warm bucket of water and then apply. However, best option is to wait until weather is a bit more conducive (or move to oz) :-)

I finally got to install this today in my garage. I didn't snap any installation pictures as intended, as its pretty straight forward. Just like the original image instruction that comes with the sill. I'll aim to take a pic of the bumper tomorrow but given its clear not much to see. I am glad I got it as moonlight blue shows things easily.

Took delivery of a 2012 Q5 in Dec. (price was too good to pass)
since than i have been doing lots of research on AW and the wealth of knowledge from all the members to determine what is available for our cars.
most of these products are compatible with 2013 as Audi did not redesign the overall specs of the car.
IMO: Film offers limited protection (if you load and unload often), China S-Line scuff plates proves the best value, protection and usability (however, do rust which just need a polish cleaner to restore)
$60 dollars for the film and about 70 to 80 for a Aluminum sill. Here are photos of my (China made Scuff plates)

so far your choices are either Plastic/ ABS, Film, and Aluminum.
here is one of the member's find on Plastic/ ABS

No rubber as of it.

www.ngpracing.com... It looks pretty good on a white car and it wraps over the rear of the bumper giving more protection.
