Anyone did oil change in Q5 using oil vaccum pump ?
I am planning to do oil changes every 5K miles, both of my vehicles have oil filter in accessible location, so I don't need to get under the car to chnage the oil filter on either vehcle.
Looking for feed back on the vacuum pumps.
My dealer charges $125 (plus tax, I guess) for an oil change which is not bad because only oil+filter are about $70, and my indy mech. chnarges about $50 if I bring my oil and filter (almost the same as dealer). My main concern is that I have to spend about 2-3 hours if I go to the dealer, and 1-2 hours if go to my mech. I assume that changine oil myself using the pump would take 1 hour or less.
thanks for your help.

I have used an oil extractor on my last two Audis (A4, S4) and also on the Q5. So far I have changed the oil twice myself with the extractor as well as the dealership (dealership every 10k due to audi care, and me every 5k).
Unlike some others, I have had good experiences with an extractor although the kind definitely makes a difference. I went through two or three before I found one that I liked and worked consistently. With the extractor and the oil filter on top of the engine, (was the same with the s5), the entire process takes make 30 minutes.

2 Mityvac and a Pela and I was done with them. Some have reported that synthetic oil causes the seals to fail. Since I use nothing but synthetics and 2 failed after 2 uses(1 didn't work right out of the box) I'd had enuff. If you get one and end up getting good results please report back what brand and model.

I've been using a Pella since 03' on my VW Tdi. Synthetic oil and all. Never an issue and cleans out the almost 1 litre that remains in the cartridge style filter housing.
Awesome tool, I have yet to use it on my Q5 yet.
I've let many others use it too
