If, for example, we know we want a particular Driive Select option, can we turn it on via VAG, turn on hidden MMI menu via VAG, select the drive option, and then turn off the hidden menu and still have the selected Drive Select work as wanted?

I ask because I'm a bit weary of having the MMI Hidden Menu on full time - isn't there a hidden menu option that is a no-no to touch? I don't trust car riders not to accidentally fool with the MMI and not hit that no-no option.

Valid question, however, in my eyes it's not much of a concern. The 'hidden' menu is accessed by holding down two buttons on the MMI controls for 5-6 seconds (fully documented at that link above), not by a simple button press. I think the chances of holding down the correct 2 buttons for 5-6 seconds are slim to none.

All that said. I do believe you can make the change and then turn the hidden menu back off if you really wanted to.

Hope that helps,
tgt

Ahhhh, ok - I didn't realize that. Yeah, in that case then, I would agree - not much to worry about. Thanks for that info!

Also, is enabling ADS something that would void warranty?

While I have the MMI options enabled, I've pretty much set both my steering and engine/throttle response to DYNAMIC and haven't changed to any of the other settings since.

You could do this by changing the adaptations to 3 (instead of 4) to always be in Dynamic instead of Individual (which is what puts the options on the MMI display).

Which Byte 8 Bit did you end up changing from 0 to 1?

Is it,
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 8 -> Bit 2 change 0 to 1
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 8 -> Bit 4 change 0 to 1

or,
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 8 -> Bit 1 change 0 to 1
[Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 8 -> Bit 2 change 0 to 1

Basically asking whether it's bit 1 or 4 for steering (bit 2 is enabled in both cases). On both our Q5 and S4, we notice a significant difference in steering feel in Dynamic vs. Comfort with bit 1 enabled. We tested bit 4 but didn't notice any perceivable difference (bit 4 will enable the selectable "Steering" in the MMI but it doesn't seem to do anything).
