Default Waxing the new Q5

This a bit silly question, maybe even mentioned in some FAQ section. But as this is my first brand new car, and I decided not to have ClearBra (atleast for now), would you recommend a full wax for this? Or has the dealer perhaps waxed it already when I received the car? To my eye this Ibis white looks great as it is, but I'm wondering if spending some money would protect the paint better and make it not get dirty so easily.

Definitely wax the car. Dealers don't wax cars, they run em through a car wash.

I waxed mine as soon as it hit the driveway.

I plan on waxing mine as soon as I get it and would recommend the same. I won't recommend wax because there are plenty of debates on the best wax in another section, but any wax would be better than no wax.

I got an offer from one detailing workshop, they proposed clay and couple layers of sealant. Is clay unnecessary for brand new cars?

Clay is still useful on new cars since they do pick up stuff while on transport to your dealership...

Grab a little plastic sandwich baggie and put your hand inside it. Run the plastic baggie gently across the surface of the car. What do you feel?

With only three posts I'm guessing you joined just to post that funny reply. Thanks for joining

I performed my own new car prep, the detail part anyway. My Q is black. I was present as the cover was removed! I then returned the next day to pick it up. The detail was clay, buff with my Flex buffer and Menzerna nano and two coats of Menzerna sealant. 24 hours cure time between coats. Then a coat of Wolfgang Fusion.
