I did too but alas someone grabbed it the other day and proceeded to also pull the bottom of the net out of the plastic track. One more thing to fix.

I needed to revive this tread. I would love to know what kind of umbrella the crazy Audi designer envisioned going into that net. I don't even think I fit one of those paper mai tai umbrellas in it! What else is that ridiculous thing good for? Any interesting ideas?

There is a special holder for umbrella that can be mounted in the same place as net (but not both of them). I think net was designed to hold documents; maps, passports or any other you might need to have handy while travelling.

Getting an umbrella in that net without breaking one or the other is next to impossible. Thats why I'm asking what other uses you guys have come up with.

Nice umbrellas come with a sleeve... most people throw these away, but can be put to good use here.

Frankly speaking, coming from VW passat, I'm a bit disappointed with Q5 in regards to some small items that passat had, but premium brand car of the same group is missing... Umbrella holder within drivers door is one of these... The other are REAL heated windshield and lack of small compartments that passat have plenty of :-(
