My Q5 had the front brakes changed around 34k miles (right before I bought it). In January of this year, I had the rear brakes and rotors changed (front ones read 7). Now the brake pad light is on, maybe driven 2k miles this year tops. Is the sensor in the front brake pads? If yes, should I just have the sensor replaced or change the front brake pads also?
Thanks!
Thanks!

There is only (1) and it is at the left front. I would check the connector, unplug clean and re-plug in before changing pads again. If you don't wear your pads all the way down you can reuse the sensor part itself. I changed mine at 55K and had more than half left.

just as a follow up...i had my local shop unplugged, cleaned and replugged (they did it for free as courtesy since we are repeat customers). The light stayed off for like 5 minutes before coming back. The pads have 50% life left, they are suggesting I just get the pads changed too since they have to open the caliper to change the sensor. I guess it makes sense, just get it done one time. the difference in labor wont be much more, just the pads I would have to order online
