Why does 2.0T have more demand?

Im just wondering because I just purchased a 3.2 because the dealer didn't have any 2.0T and is not willing to negociate AT ALL with the 2.0T

I'll take a crack at it. Not in any particular order:
1) tunability - big gains can be made on forced air motors with software
2) fuel mileage (at least on paper - real world not much difference)
3) cost (?)
4) carbon buildup issues on the 3.2. Not much history yet on the 2.0.
5) weight - the 2.0 motor is lighter.
6) 8-speed tranny with the 2.0, 6-speed with the 3.2
7) "Newer" (FWIW)
They're both fine motors IMO.

We just got ours a couple of weeks ago, but I can give you my reasons:
1. fuel economy
2. MORE than enough power for our needs, I know it is not enough power for others![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
3. significantly lower price, $40K is plenty to pay for a car!

Simply because of the Value and cost.
We got our Q5 in '09 when the 3.2 was the only option and paid 40K for a PP. Less than what many others are currently paying for a 2.0T PP. The 3.2 V6 has become costlier and less of a value.
Value and Cost. The same reason I could never pull the trigger on a new 45K '12 A5 2.0T or 65K '12 V8 S5. With the '13 S5 being a better value & cost, nice refresh, updated MMI and sweet 3.0 SC V6. Simply, a no brainer.

As Imariorod said, my 09' Q5 was 42 grand premium plus. my 12' Q5 2.0t was the same price. The car is virtually the same, same rims, same interior, same exterior. just that this new one has an advanced key and floor mats. same exact car!

This question could also be asked "Why does the 3.2 have less demand?"
Same reasons as above: The 3.2 costs more to buy and drive but provides little or no performance advantage. It may be slightly faster in a straight line at sea level, but that's it. Any straight-line performance advantage in the 3.2, whether real or perceived, isn't worth it to most buyers.
Especially at higher altitudes and on roads that bend, the 2.0T will generally out-run the 3.2 and return better mileage doing it.
One advantage of the 3.2 is the options and trim choices: I would have loved to have been able to spec the matte finish wood trim on my 2.0T as a regular order option.

Then I guess Audi has it backwards.
They should be charging Q5 2.0T (better everything, except options) 3.2 prices and 3.2 Q'5 at 2.0T prices. Similarly equipped of course.

Our 3.2 is quite a bit quieter, less busy, and smoother than the three 2.0's I've driven. I really liked the 2.0's 8-speed tranny though.

Cost? I don't agree. Even if the 3.2 cost the same as the 2.0T, I would have opted for the 2.0T. I think most people will pay extra for a superior product especially when you are buying $45k+ automobile. The 3.2 should have been built with a significant power advantage over the 2.0T (or make it impossible to re-map the ECU on the 2.0T); that was Audi's big mistake. Audi finally got it right by replacing the 3.2 with the 3.0T. The only advantage of the 3.2 is the choice in options, which was again insignificant IMO.
As for the "jerky" transmission and the "underpowered" engine on the 2.0T, I can't say I agree. So far so good for me!
