I bought Q5-specific dip stick from Bernardiparts.com, when I check oil level in the car's menu, it shows full, with D-stick shows just in between min and Max right where it should be.

I did my first oil change at 1500 miles, and plan to change oil every 5K miles, so dip stick will be usefull. Was only around $13 anyway. I only use it to check oil level, then I put the plug back in. The Audi dipstick is made of plastic, I do not know if it is designed to stay in the engine or be used just to check oil level...

tube for oil dipstick for Q5.
Read the link at OP. Note it is a universal adaptable and not specifically Q5 as reported.

Anyone know if the R8 Oil cap mentioned will fit the 3.2 in our Q?

Can someone tell me where the dipstick tube is located on the Q5? I looked around for a few minutes and didn't see any capped-off tube.

I assume it is on the rear of the engine to one side.

Thanks.

i just read an article in motor trend (i think) about more and more cars coming without dipsticks. they basically said its because the normal driver doesnt even bother to use it or check their oil so why put it? it kinda makes sense but i think we should still have a manual dip stick!
