Default Widest 20" rims on an SQ5

Guys,

I have a 2014 SQ5 with stock 8.5" x 20" rims, which I think I'll keep for winter use, and try to get something wider for the remaining 3 seasons...

I'm going to keep the suspension stock.

How wide I can safely go while staying inside the wheel wells? Has anybody gone a full 1" wider, and used 9.5" x 20" rims on all 4 corners?

Is the consensus to only go to 9" wide on the 20" rims?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jason

I'm running 20x10 ET30 with 295s. Tires are 11.4" wide. There is more room in the rear, but not in the front.

There are people running 10.5" without flares, usually ET25.

for winter you should go to -1 or -2. 20" => 19" or 18"

i.e a smaller rim size. the gives you a bigger ratio and a skinnier tire ( to ensure the speedo runs the same rate)

you want a skinnier tire in the winter so that the is more force into the snow. big fat tires tend to float.

I'm running 20x10 ET25 with 275/40R20 tires on H&R springs. I've got a little poke in the front. If you're at the stock height, you'll need to be even less aggressive since you probably don't have as much negative camber tucking the wheels in. You could definitely run 20x9.5 wheels without going past flush as long as you have the right offset. Try out WillTheyFit.com to figure out how far your can go. The stock wheels with 12.5mm spacers up front and 20mm spacers in the rear is basically flush. I plugged in 20x8.5 ET20 in the link above for existing; anything that sticks out less than that will fit in the wheel wells.

Yow...10.5" rims?!!!
That's a full 2" wider than stock!
Did you change your suspension at all?
Are running huge amounts of negative camber?

PS: I don't know what the stock setup is, so it might be so huge.
