Will be buying the Q5 soon for wife with the 19" wheels package.
Will be shopping for 18" winter tires and wheels this summer to get ready for the upcoming winter.
Any recommendations from Q5 owners here? Pirelli, Michellin, Goodyear?
Tires: Any specific brands and models? Pirelli, Michellin, Goodyear?
Wheels: The Sport Edition wheels look cheap enough for winter? Anyone have experiences? Certainly don't want anything cheap that might have quality concerns either.
It's hard to beat the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV. Hartmann wheels are more expensive, but they're made well and they'll look better. I like simple for winter, so I'd go with RS6 Replicas or TT Replicas.
Thanks guys. Looks like they're some love for the Nokia tires. Also seen some owners here with Rial. No doubt Hartmann wheels are nice, but a bit more than I like to spend for winter tires.
Is everyone running 18" wheels and tires for winter? Even though you may have 19" or 20" for summer?
Used a set of these 18 inch last year in northern Ontario winter on blizzak DMV2 tires. Worked well...no problems at all. Fit like a glove, no balance issues same size CB and OE lugs all worked well....no hassles at all.

I have the 19's and all seasons on my '16 Q5, I don't think you'll need a winter set up (I'm NY/NJ/LI btw) Maybe wait and see how it does for you before spending the $$$

I disagree. Winter tires are always better in cold climates. Not only do you benefit from specialized tread patterns when driving on snow and ice, but you also get better dry road control from the softer rubber compound.
Totally Agree! For safety, peace of mind it's just smart! The Quattro system will do amazing things from start, to accelerate with AS tires. But it will not stop or turn worth a damn on ice or black ice. Ask me how I know!
Cheers

This is a reasonable advise. If it was my car I might be able to try my DSW06 tires for a winter and see how that goes.
But this is for my wife, so I want her to be safe when we have over a foot of snow here in Hartford, CT. Which I think we will, at least a few times during our winter season.
