Default Worn brake pads warning

I had a Worn brake pads warning yesterday but it's now gone.

Is it normal?

Your pads could be right at the edge of setting off the light for good. If you get the opportunity I would get your pad thickness checked. If that is good then I wouldn't worry to much about it.

From what I read, the sensor is a sacrificial component and after it opens from wear, the sensor stay open permanently.

Usually, the warning stay there until the pads/sensor are replaced?

Yoshimura your understanding of the sensor methodology is accurate. The sensor is basically a copper conductor encased in plastic. When the conductor makes contact with the disc it wears through and presents an open circuit to the Ecu.If your brakes are fine then next step is to inspect the connector which is down there in a brutal environment. It's strapped to a lower control arm on the DS front.
