2018 Q5 Order Status and Updates - Your experience?
I ordered my Q5 on March 3, 2018 by putting a deposit down at the dealership. Although the dealer said it would take approximately three months, I have yet to receive any email from the factory with a date or the VIN or where my car is in the production line.
What has your experience been? What updates did you receive, from who, and when?

When I ordered my '16 S5, I had to chase down my dealer for the Commission Number and VIN. If you do not pro-actively chase them down, few dealer salespeople are customer-oriented enough to automatically keep you updated with the status of your order. I guess, this is one of those things that would tell you whether your salesperson is a keeper or a one-time deal kind of guy. So, I recommended doing a follow-up with your salesperson to find out the status of your order. Ask him/her if there is any indication of when it will go into production. They can get you key dates such as production, shipping, and ETA. If your car is not yet schedule for production, i.e. dealer is still waiting for an allocation to open up, then he/she won't be able to give you any info other than, 'we already placed the order with Audi Canada'.

Do not expect to hear anything until you are roughly 2 months into your order. Expect something for you around late April/early May

My conclusion is that the update process in Canada is different than in the US. So I think I need to reach out to my dealer for any info instead of automatically receiving status update emails from the factory.
