Default 2023 SQ5 Fake Exhaust tips

Now I know why my exhaust tips were not getting dirty but I did not know that they were clip-on fakes. One is now MIA (either fell off or ripped off); there does not appear to be any breakage or damage to the section of the bumper where they attach. Let the search for new ones begin. I'll start with the dealer assuming they fell off and see if they handle it via warranty.

Yes. They make a real exhaust tips kit, too. Looks nice but seems to require some cutting of the lower valence to install, and ultimately seems to be just cosmetic and doesn’t improve performance. I thought it was cheesy at first but have come to like how much cleaner my hatch lid stays, and of course no tips to polish soot from.

We had a Q3 loaner with the fake tips. The car purist in me gives it a lame thumbs down, but I was equally impressed on how real they look. If it wasn't that I knew they were fake from this forum, I wouldn't have batted an eye looking at them.

I remember reading that such "fake exhaust tips" started showing up based on customer feedback about the "dirty tips" which obviously would not be feedback from enthusiasts. Hence, mfgs will do anything to make their cars more appealing to "the masses". No argument here, just a "sigh".

Same for me - never knew they were fake until it was pointed out here. Seems kind of cheesy for Audi to do though on a $65K or so car.

Saw a Q7 a few days ago apparently no long after he'd just started the car, and vapor was coming out of both exhaust tips. I suppose they don't do fake tips on the 7, or perhaps it was an older model.

I love not having sooty black exhaust tips. Couldn't care less they are "fake"... Car still sounds good too.

Didn't say I liked them, I was impressed with how real they looked. I prefer our 2018 where the exhaust also turns down under the bumper, and they put in fake cosmetic covers. Don't really miss trying to clean soot out of the tips.
