Have a 21 SQ5 with air suspension and will soon be going on a 7 hour road trip with 3 other psssengers and a bit of luggage. Do you guys adjust the tire pressure when doing something like this. The tires of course already look like thet are sitting low with about 34 psi all around now. Thinking I should bring it up to around 40. Thoughts?

Wertz, what is the MAX load inflation for your car and its tires? It's on the door label or in the Owner's Manual.

I suspect you will have the best result following their recommendation.

The pressures on the doorjamb are for a fully loaded vehicle (driver plus 3 or 4 passengers and lots of luggage). I'd think running such a high pressure when lightly loaded would make the vehicle drive like a truck and tires not grip as well.

I use what's in the manual - 36 Front, 34 rear for a driver and one passenger.

I got it back from the dealer once after an oil change/service and they'd inflated to 40 or so and it was really a harsh ride.

I've always found if I followed the door jam, it handled better and road fine (even with run flats on my BMW's). Dealers/tire shops seem to like to inflate the crap out of the tires. I don't get that!

I wouldn't go to much higher if at all. We bought our car in January and it was in the low teens temperature wise. We were driving to Fla and by the time we were in Ga the temp had warmed up quite a bit and the TPMS went off. I pulled in gas station to check and they didn't have air pump working. As I looked at tires they didn't seem low. Luckily I keep a gauge and sure enough the tires were all overinflated. They were somewhere in the 40's. The temperature caused the pressure to rise. I regularly drive 500-1200 mile trips and have my pressure at recommended pressure with 2 passengers but loaded in the back
