So I was trying to replace the tabs for my car and ran in to this issue. My license plate bracket has a busted screw and it seems the design of the OEM license bracket is crap and a major contributor to this failure. I did remember not to tighten the screw too much. It seems the screw got rusted somehow and it was jammed.
Looking for suggestions and ideas, if there is a cheap alternative to replace this. I can suck up the cost but I am afraid this will happen again with the poorly designed bracket.
Watched the dealer rip the rear plate off my '18 SQ5 upon lease turn in last week. Was very glad it was no longer my car watching him trying to free the plate from the vehicle. Sorry, don't have any suggestions other than perhaps trying to find stainless steel screws (which should prevent the rusting) as replacements.
I had the same problem on my S4 however it was the salesperson used the wrong screws.
I bought the plastic ones that GM uses on their plate brackets snapped into the hole and used a lil superglue to keep them from moving.
Worked great !
Depending on the depth you might have to do a lil trimming.
