"Drive System Active. Please switch off ignition" P00H7 code
Anyone every come across this error code? The car goes into limp mode and is unable to go over a certain mph. Occurs intermittently and if it sits overnight the code goes away but comes up often more recently.
Going into limp mode sporadically is a serious safety issue. Get it to the dealer and don’t let them say “Could not duplicate customer complaint.” Take your OBDII reader screen shot to show them.
Did you mistype the code?. There is no such code in the OBD2 data base. Possibly it was P0087 which is low fuel pressure or P00B7 which is low coolant flow. Could be this is an Audi specific code but it does't come up on my diagnostic code reader device which supposedly does Audi's. Either of the above would probably put the car into limp mode
I get that all the time if the car is running, in gear and you open a door. It's the most ridiculous non-informative message though. If you are 100% that the doors are all closed, and it still happens, I'd suspect a faulty door open switch.
I get the message (or maybe a similar one) about half the time when I pull my car into the garage and move to Park. The engine shuts down, but is ready to restart (just like it is if you stop at an intersection and haven't pushed the A button). I just hit the Start button with my foot not on the brake pedal and it totally shuts down. If I press the brake pedal, it starts again on its own. I never considered it an error, but more like an oddity but an Audi norm. I believe the message says something to the effect that it'll shut down in 30 seconds if you do nothing.
Oh that's an interesting thought. If you have auto/start stop engaged, then it would warn you if you don't put it in park before opening the door (since the car is effectively 'still running'. I turn off the auto start/stop so I never see this unless I open the door when the engine is running.
That code is not defined. It is a reserved code which is kind of meaningless. The link https://www.obd-codes.com/faq/iso-sae-reserved.php explains the situation and possible cases but is useless as a diagnostic unless there are other codes stored. Since the second symbol is a 0 this means it is not an Audi specific code but from the general family of power train codes i.e. first symbol is a P..
Just a quick update! We brought our 2018 Q5 in for service and I mentioned the code and symptoms above and turned out to be the thermostat being the issue (low coolant flow). Fortunately, it was still under warranty. If ya'll ever come across this issue I would suggest getting it checked and replaced before your warranty is up! Cheers
