The Audi engine mounts seem to be a known weak spot. The 2014 A6 that I mentioned earlier (with 85K) was in the shop for some other work, and the owner said they would check the engine mounts since a lot of them were failing. Fortunately, mine were still good, but he said it was a good idea to keep an eye on them, since they were prone to failure....

2018 Q5 P+ CPO here and I'm thinking about this, too. Other than a glazed brake rotor early on (~12k miles) that was replaced (along with all 4 pad sets) under warranty, the car has been great. So far no issues with water pump or ball joints, I follow the audicare schedule and get all those items done at the correct intervals by the dealer, plus I do my own interim oil changes to keep that interval at every 5k miles versus 10k. I'm right at 70k miles now, and no longer have the CPO warranty coverage, so I'm a little concerned around the general consensus about not keep anything German beyond the warranty period. Paying for repairs is not an issue, but I'm also big into tracking depreciation and not wasting money, too. I guess my most immediate concerns about my own Q5 would be around the water pump, the timing chain guides, and the ball joint issue that I just got an extended warranty notification on. Love the car, as it's a good balance of fun to drive, confident feeling, safe, and decent performance; however, I'm really on the fence about keeping it or not... interested to read more real-world comments.

Meant to add that there is a message thread on this that is much newer; I received the Audi warranty letter ~3 weeks back. AudiWorld Q5 Ball Joint Thread

Thanks, I found that thread. I may not have received a letter since we hit 50K miles last year before the letters were sent. We had AudiCare so the 50K service was documented.

I would think a 2018 Q5 would be able to get to the year 2027 or so and around 100k-150k miles without a enormous amount of money for a modern car. If I'm wrong, people here would be able to tell us!
