Is installation the same, with cutting, for the 2018?
They look identical to the ones on my 2013, so I doubt the installation is radically different

I almost put the trigger of buying the mud guard yesterday for my new 2018 Q5.
Thanks God I saw this post! cutting a piece of my new car is too much for my heart. I don't understand why Audi has such horrible design on this least complicated part?
Also they really look not good shown in the "after installation" picture above. the front is alright, but the rear looks really terrible. Even my old RAV4 Sport came with a much nicer free mudguard.

Jeez... that's the worst looking OEM splash guard I've ever seen.

I was curious to why these were not an option when I placed my order. I usually go for them on a vehicle but I would definitely pass on these.

I made metio of the fact in an earlier post here that these were - at best unimpressive looking. And seeing what a set of overly complicated installation steps are required is not endearing. However, they do provide a function and so I had them installed on my 2017 Allroad.

I didnt care for the appearance of the OEM splash guards so when I took my car to have the clear film applied to the front I ask that he cover a portion behind the wheels for protection. I'm really happy with it.

Seems most folks here are unhappy with the looks and difficulty installing the guards. Is anyone happy they had them installed?

From time to time I drive on dirt roads with small pebbles and would like to protect my 2018 Q7 from "dings" caused by pebbles thrown by the tire. Are the splash guards useful for protecting against this? Will the Xpel clear plastic provide sufficient protection?

Thanks,
Rich in San Diego

My 2018 came from the dealer pre-installed (non-negotiable). They do save the rocker panels from rocks, mud, etc. But like said above, they do look cheap for the price (mine were $430CAD installed before delivery). I have no complaints having them, but am a bit surprised that cutting was required.

Do these splash guards diminish the amount of dirt thrown up on the back of the vehicle? My Q7 gets ridiculously dirty in the back.

They will save the rear quarter panels (behind the rear wheels), but not a lot of change for the actual rear.

Default Worth the install and not as complicated as it seems

I just installed mine today and it was pretty easy. Looks more complicated O paper but fairly easy. Took me about an hour and half because the to rear wheels had to be removed and the cutting you can do with a box cutter. Overall happy because no I don't have mud or anything making all my side dirty
