I'd not like to take it all the way to 10K either, unless most of it was highway miles, even though it should be able to do that. It holds about 7.5 quarts instead of 5 quarts for less expensive cars and I suppose that makes 10K more reasonable.

I ordered an ECS Tuning dipstick that should be in this coming week simply because I like to see what the oil looks like. Just old school. They're on sale now but stil expensive atl $60 with tax.
Thanks for the response. You should be able to get the dipstick for cheaper price online.May not be the top quality but it worked for others.

Change your oil and filter every 5000 miles, or 1 year.

Oh no..the dreaded oil change frequency debate begins. 🤣

still haven’t found anyone that thinks changing it every 200 miles would be even better than the arbitrary more frequent routine than the manufacturer recommends.

that’s what I do. And it’s nice that the engineers think it can last a little longer and that the car calculates oil service life, so if I don’t get to it at 5,000, I can let it go a little longer until I have time to change it.

I do change my oil every 5000 K and I don't use the OEM oil ever since they dropped Castrol. I do use Pentosin for the gas engine and since they discontinue the 0W-20 , I'm now switching to Liqui Moly 6200 . For the Diesel engine I do use Rowe. 10.000 is too long. By the time you drain it, it almost looks like black water.

No argument from me that technically, oil will last longer than 5,000 miles. But it has to be changed eventually, and it stands to reason that changing it slightly earlier than the technically latest service interval will at best give you cleaner better functioning oil, and at worst you’ve forfeited some of the oil’s useful service life. But know what - I don’t care. I like getting under the car periodically to take a look at things and inspect for unrelated wear or damage. And I change it when I want, usually when it’s convenient and weather is good. If this was a fleet car or I owned a taxi service, I’d change it no sooner than the max service interval.
