Remote Control Key. Hold back of key against designated area
I currently have a 2019 Q5 Premium Plus and today was the second time the car has not started with the following message "Remote Control Key. Hold back of key against designated area". I called Audi and they said it was a low battery on the key Fob, I tried the other key fob and it still did not start. It finally started after the 3rd or 4th attempt. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Found a solution
We also have 2019 Q5 premium. Wife had same problem. I believe it was a glitch triggered by having both keys in the car. My key worked fine. I put my key far away ,I tried again width her key and got the error message. I googled it and found a different audi had it in the console. I placed the key in the drivers side cup holder and bingo! Good as new and battery appears fine now.

Had this happen this morning. Both key fobs were in the car, i signed in as guest. Kept trying. then turned everything off, tried again and it worked. This was very upsetting to say the least!

I had a similar problem when I used the spare key briefly and then went to use the primary key. Wouldn’t start or recognize the key. The car was new to me and didn’t know where the designated spot was. Eventually got it started.

I have ‘23 sportback which has a very hard brake pedal after sitting overnight. I get the same message if I don’t put lots of force on brake. I will mention next time it’s at dealer.
