I have a 2017 Audi A5 Cabriolet and a 2020 Q5 Prestige. The GPS in the A5 could use updating. I attempted to follow the instructions provided in this thread for downloading the update, but was stymied because I don't have a my audi connect account for the A5 Cabriolet. According to AT&T, the 2017 A5 is not compatible.

This car is mostly my around town/beach car, so I don't need all the technology I have on the 2020 Q5. But, I do want to update the GPS data base for the few times I do take it on a road trip. Can't I just download updates on an SD card and install same?

If you have this system -

Then the maps from your 2020 Q5 won't work. The map version is not compatible with the current downloaded type available via My.Audi, you will need to see a dealer for newer maps for your A5.

I am attempting to figure out how far behind my GPS version is on my 2017 A5. I don't think my dealer updated it during the 10,000 service. Now I no longer qualify for free updates. This is what the MMI screen displays.
Software Version:
HN+_US_UA3G_P0942
Navigation Database Version:
8R0060884DQ NAR 6.14.2

Can anyone tell me if this a 2017, 2018 or 2019 version?
Thanks.

2020 Q5 Prestige - Arctic White

I could be wrong, but that doesn't appear to be a downloadable format map version

It is not a downloadable version. My 2017 has to be updated by the dealer. I just wanted to identify what year database was loaded - 2017, 2018, or 2019.

Looks like the process has changed and you can't download the map update to a pc for install with a usb drive. When I went to the site, I found this:

Map updates
Audi owners of certain 2017 models and all 2018 or newer model vehicles should attempt to update their maps OTA (Over the Air) within the vehicle. Those owners without in-vehicle OTA capabilities should contact the Audi Customer Experience Center at 1-800-822-2834 (800-822-AUDI).
Anyone know of a way to download the maps? I prefer to do it the old way (cell reception where I am is poor).

^ Spindlewood, if you're able to log into the Canadian version of the MyAudi site, you might be able to download the latest map update for your vehicle.
Here is the URL to access the Canada MyAudi site: https://login.audi.com/?LOCALE=en-CA
Today I downloaded the 2019-2020 version full North American map update files for my 2018 Q5, and installed the update into my Q5 - no problem.
Fyi.. I am unable to download/install the latest 2020 map update, since I'm at the update limit for my early build 2018 Q5.
