I'm also trying to update my maps using a MacBook but when I put the SD card into Slot 1 or 2 the vehicle looks at the card and then comes up with a message that it can't find the data or files it needs.
I've tried a 64GB and then a 16GB card but neither of them worked.
The only thing I can think of is that the cards are formatted with something that my Q5 can't recognize.
Does anyone have an idea on what might be the issue?

TIA!

Where are you getting your maps from and what year update is it?
That message is a symptom of an expired subscription - meaning the update is too new. You get 5 at 6mo intervals, whether or not you actually uodate.

I'm logging in to myAudi.com and it says it's the 2021 North America maps.

Counting on my fingers, you should have the license for it
This message also happens if the files are unzipped incorrectly.

How many zip files are part of the download? You need to highlight all files together before choosing the unzip command or it won't unzip properly (this is on a pc anyway). Read the instructions carefully.

Last time I tried to update via my Mac it would not load into the SQ5. Turned out to be an issue unzipping with the Mac. Worked fine when I unzipped with Windows (running as a VM on parallels in a MBP).

I'm getting the 4 files that I've seen on a number of post so I thought I was doing everything correctly. Thanks @spindlewood for the feedback!

Thanks for sharing your experience @steadfast . I'll try download ing the files using Windows and hopefully that does the trick.

LMK if you have any issues or can't access a Windows machine (I'm located near you). For some reason it's only the unzipping that causes problems when done under Mac OS-X. I actually downloaded with Mac and then unzipped with Windows.

I updated our 2019 Q5 using the 2021 maps download yesterday. I unzipped the contents onto a 16Gb USB Flash drive (formatted as FAT32) from my Windows 10 PC and the update went through without issues. I suspect this will be the last update we can apply.

Cheers!

MF.
