Thanks, @FPF for this post - I had no idea I could update the maps in my 2018 SQ5 Prestige over the air, especially since I have not renewed my audiconnect subscription. It took a while, and a few starts/stops where it seemed to stall, but eventually worked and downloaded and installed 7 updates. Much appreciated!

Coming very late to this Forum/Thread! Have 2014 Q5 PP. Have not updated Navi/maps since car was purchased new. I now note that maps are very outdated! Am not with Audi Connect. What's the best way for me to become current? Thanks

Although you might get help here, this forum is for the Q5 from 2018 to present. The forum above is for 2008 to 2017. things might have been different you your build car.

In order to download a map update in Canada from myAudi (Canada) you need to have access (a subscription) to Audi Connect Services by way of the Audi Connect 'Assistance & Security' package, which is an included extra that comes with the Technik trim package on the '18 Q5.
If you have an '18 Q5 and don't have access to Audi's online map update, send me a PM and we can perhaps organize something or other to get the 2018 version map files to you.
Hi Read your message, I'm curious I have a Q7 just got off the phone with them to update the maps on my Audi and they want over 1k to do the update plus an hour labour, that is nuts how did you get the map updates?

^ Well.. when I owned my '18 Q5 I was getting (downloading) the first few map updates free by logging into the MyAudi site. I still have several Audi map updates on my computer up to a 2020 version I believe. What model-year is your Q7, and what version of maps is currently installed?

^ Okay, so your 2018 Q7 currently has the original navigation map database version (i.e. NAR "2017/2018") that your vehicle originally came with from the factory. Audi releases map updates about every 6 months, and if memory serves me, Audi allows the vehicle's infotainment system to accept/process new map updates by the owner up to about 5 half-year updated versions as compared to the map version the vehicle came with. With that said, you should be able to install a map update up to either version "2019/2020" or version "2020". I'm guessing you'll be okay installing map version "2020", which is certainly a lot newer than what your vehicle currently has. I have both versions of map software on my computer. The software bundle of files for each update version totals about 12.5 GB. The issue is getting 12.5 GB of data files to you. If you have a suitable file sharing site, I could upload the chosen version map update files to your site. If that option doesn't work for you, you could mail to me a blank SD card (with minimum 32 GB capacity) and I'll put the files on the card and mail it back to you. Let me know what you'd like to do.
- Richard
