Default 2006 Q7 MMI interface location

Hi, new member here. Did a search but couldn't find the answer. I'm trying to find the location of the MMI interface on my 2006 S-Line.

It's not in the glove box and not under the armrest, I even levered up the storage tray and had a look. Nav DVD is in the boot, CD changer is in the dash.

Surely this has been asked before?

Do you mean the aux audio input? Assuming it's the same as my '08, it's under the center armrest. This is also assuming the car is equipped with the Audi Music Interface. You also need an interface cable to use it. I have an aux input cable and a USB cable that will play mp3s from a usb stick. To get to the AMI connector you have to lift up the secret compartment, then open the secret door. There's a picture here, where it talks about the media interface doors. https://audistream2air.com/pages/ami...ort-what-is-it

Nope, and that's the big mystery! I'd found all that info on google but mine has nothing under the secret compartment but some electrical gubbins. Again, nothing in the glove box either. I'm mystified.

Just to be sure you're looking in the correct place:

1. Lift center armrest
2. Unlatch and lift the black plastic flat tray under the armrest
3. Open plastic door on passenger side of lifted tray to access AMI connector

Do you have the Bose speakers? Maybe the AMI interface is bundled with that?
Picture of the lifted tray and door is in the 3rd post of the thread linked below. The cable in the picture plugs in behind the door. (You need to add the cable). Ignore the diagram in the first thread post, it's for a different vehicle.

Yeah I don't think mine has that as when I lift up the arm rest it's just a felt part. If you remove that it's just the body work, as per the below.

I think i'll just have to get an FM transmitter for now. That will have to do the job.

Well if your does not have the optional AMI unit under the centre armrest then “your car does not have AMI”!! This mean no aux connector, no Bluetooth etc for music...
