Default HPFP replacement?

So I’m having difficulty finding the correct part number for the high pressure fuel pump for my 2011 Q7 TDI Prestige. Can help with the part number and any tips for replacing it and related parts that should be replaced at the same time?

Thanks in advance!

usually if the HPFP needs replaced the whole fuel system goes, do you have an extended emissions warranty on it?

I have it as per the settlement emissions modifications, but I spoke with an Audi service advisor who couldn’t tell me if the part was covered and advised that I’d have to bring it in for a $164 diagnostic charge in order to let me know.

its 100% covered, all service advisors say that.. The pump is $800, the whole fuel system getting replaced because of that pump failure is $10k.. wont put $164 on the line for that? You dont pay it when they discover this is covered by warranty..

Now what makes you think the HPFP needs replaced if you dont have a diagnosis?

Here is a list of all components covered by your extended warranty, print it out and take it with you: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...44660-9999.pdf

Thanks. My truck experiences slight engine hesitation under very light throttle like cutting in and out. You can actually hear it. On another thread about this topic, it was suggested that the HPFP might be to blame. So I was looking into fixing it since it’s original to my ‘11 (that I’m aware of and I have 73k miles and it’s a known wear item/advised preventative maintenance.

uh yeah its not your HPFP, your car will pretty much drive perfectly fine until it just dies and wont start again.. its pretty sudden, and dramatic.. also theres less than a 1% failure rate on these, and those that do fail usually have like 2x the millage on em... yes you should take preventive maintenance everyone else in the world with 73k miles is also still on their original HPFP.

a slight hesitation could be a gunked up injector, or any number of other things.. this will not be covered by warranty, you will pay $164 and there is a 80% chance they will just dismiss you and say this is normal..

Try running a bottle of BG245 through the tank and see if that helps, fixed a misfire situation I had a year ago... dealer will charge you $200 for a "BG Injector Cleaning Service" that is the same exact thing .

Thanks man. I did try normal diesel injector cleaner in the past with no results, but not that particular stuff. I also just got the fuel filter replaced. I’ll try that stuff out and see how it goes. Thanks for saving me from an expensive, futile endeavor.

They just told me the HPFP failed on y 2015 Q5, was driving and it had a hiccup on the interstate and went into limp home mode with no power and the glow plug light started flaring and the yellow engine light came on, dealer said the code showed metallic contamination and the tech said the pump failed, they are replacing it under warrantee, what can I expect, car has 56k miles on it?

You'll get a brand new fuel system from the tank to the injectors and everything in between.

This literally just happened last week to the Wifes 2011 Q7 TDI (104k miles). Was driving fine on way home and sputtered and died right in my drive way. Thought it was the battery/alternator because the low battery light was on and it would only turn with a battery charger pack connected. Took it to local mechanic and he diagnosed HPFP so he recommend to take to dealer. Dealer confirmed pump failure and metal through the fuel system, all covered by the warranty. It's basically game over if you are not under warranty.
