I had to jump my wifes GTI. Left her lights on all day. Had to use the owners manual to find out how. Once I got the red cap off was fairly easy.

...rather than jump-starting it I used my heavy-duty 12V battery charger to charge it back up. Used the positive terminal in the engine bay and a big metal bracket in there for the neg.

Yes jumped mine, was unsussesfull first time had to leave the charger on overnight before she started, I have now bought a solar charger and I leave it on the charger mostly

Same here. At a multi-storey car park. Had to have the AA out with a booster to start it. No problem since.
