Thanks Chickdr,
I'll talk to the AFS tomorrow to see if anything else better comes up. I may just go to the dealer and get the CPO thing for $1700 and the 3.9%.

Unbelievable, AFS can't offer the extended warranty in the Nanny State of CA and some 7 other states. The only way to get the Audi Extended Warranty is from the Dealer CPO. What's going on here?

We say the heck with CPO and dealer stuff because we don't driver much. We just refinance with AFS easy and quick.

The CPO warranty is 6 years 100k miles from the day we bought the car, the manufacturer warranty is 4 years 50k miles, which means we only have 2 years of warranty and we will never hit 50k miles in the next 3 years. Now we have to cough up $1700 just for the CPO + whatever we need to fix to be CPO'd.
We think we will take our chances with our Q7 in the next 3 years/20k miles.

AFS offered 4.64%
Dealer CPO offered 3.9% (and some say CPO should be 1.9%, I think dealer takes the 2% profit on this one).

Thanks all,

Louis

The truck has ipod, rear A/C, premium, 18" standard wheels 255/55x18.
I don't know if I should get a new one. I actually like my old simple look better.
The truck has been great, trouble free so far.

Louis, I am in a very similar situation with 3 payments remaining and a lease turn-in date of April 26th. I have a MY08 Q7 4.2 Premium w/ most of the options except S-Line and Air Suspension. I was looking at a new Q7 but both my wife and I prefer the simple look of the our model. It has been problem free and still on the original brakes with near 29k miles on the odometer. The buyout price is $31k. Compared this to buying a new model with similar equipment the cost would be around $64k (with S-Line).

While not the most economical engine, I do prefer the 4.2 petrol over the current powertrains. Yes, the 8-speed would be a nice addition but technology will always be moving forward and it is a question, in my opinion, does the current version meet my current lifestyle.

Audi FS can not finance directly to us due to the state we live in. Therefore we will finance it through our local credit union. Audi FS has already agreed to extend the lease by 3 months which I may taken advantage of.

I have looked at other vehicles but keep on coming back to the Q7.

Good luck in moving forward with your Q7.

Regards,
NHman

We got 2.9% from AFS(through the dealer) in March of '10. Let me give you another option. Go to www.penfed.org They offer 3.25% for up to 60mths on used cars(this JUST went up from 2.99%). VERY easy to apply and obtain the loan(I used them for my Z4M loan). Tell your dealer you need 3.25%, or you will go elsewhere.

It depends on your loan term. How many months loan did they offer for 3.9%? AFS offered 0.9% for 24mo(1.9% for 36mo...2.9% for 60mo) for 07/08 CPO's with first payment waived about a month ago. I got 48mo with 2.4% financing because I couldn't afford 24 or 36mo payment. Now they offer 1.9~3.9% which is still good deal for used vehicles.

Thanks for all your inputs.

I don't really want to pay dealer to inspect my 20k miles which may require me to fix things to pass the 300 points for CPO, sell back to the dealer, buy back with higher price, pay $1500-$1700 for 2 year extra warranty. I think 4.64% is great for a used car (I haven't bought one for years). The difference between 4.64 & 2.9 or 3.9 with the dealers hassles is peace of mind. I heard some bad stories with dealers messing up any new car. Since they need to make money, they will find something wrong with my wonderful Q7. It would be extremely stupid to pay $2000+ for brakes and tires that are just a hair below requirements.

I'll fax the credit application to AFS tomorrow and get the refinancing thing done and will not look back.

I love my Q7 and I don't really want it to be molested by anyone. Am I a little paranoid, pessimistic... he he he... :-)?

All my cars last long because they're not molested by anyone, but ME... :-)

Cheers,

Louis

You won't have to replace anything to get the CPO. They told me my brakes were toast, but it was not required for me to have them done at the dealer to get the CPO. It was simply marked down on the sheet and I took the car to an indie for replacement(could have done it myself if I wanted to). A 3.25% rate could save you a decent amount over a 4.64% loan depending on how long your term is. Same application process for Penfed as AFS as well.

Almost a no-brainer, especially given how hard it is to get a 2011 these days (which is also why you probably won't get a discount from AFS). I'd go for it.

I had a long talk with a finance manager and I found out that the CPO 6/100k is not transferable, only to the original owner. If I sell the car next year and I CPO and get 6/100k, the new owner can't not resume my warranty. Did anyone know something about this one or it just only applies to CA? I wouldn't be too surprised if it does.

Cheers,

Louis Le
