The Q received its first major service today - 15,000 kms, which has taken me approx 9 months down here in Australia.
Despite problems in the past with the Nav and radio not working (which I have seperately noted in this forum)(and which were fixed and not occured again), the only issues that I reported to the dealer for this service were as follows.
1) Tyre wear.
Both front tyres have worn badly on the outside.
2) Air conditioning.
It has developed the bad odour which after a couple of minutes goes (also discussed recently in this forum)
Here is a summary of the service report and conversation with the dealer when I collected the car......
1) Tyre wear (OEM Goodyear Eagle 275/45/20)
Acknowledged worn outer edges of front tyres (oh really!). Rotated and balanced all tyres. Dealer was totally aware of excess tyre wear on the Q as when I dropped it off, and without them even looking at the car, they asked if the passenger side was worn more than the driver side - which it was, so clearly I am not the only one with this issue. Recommended that I run all tyres at 50psi in future (note that the car was delivered with the recommended 34psi all round) and tyres will last longer. Suggested that if I got more than 20,000 kms out of the tyres then I had done well with the vehicle being so heavy. Wish I knew this 15,000 kms ago!
2) Airconditioning
Dealer was not surprised by this issue - so again I reckon I am not the first. They deoderised the system and suggested if it comes back (which it will) that they will look at removing the condenser to repair.
3) Other items
Brakes remaining...40% front and 60% rear. They softened me up for new pads all round next service.
Other than that its all good. The dealer is really good and nothing has ever been a problem. Hope this info interests you all.

I have been given 25,000km or two years which ever is first. Why so soon?
I have same tyres and mileage but hey seem perfect. I must not be driving hard enough;-)
Overall your service dept seem pretty good and thorough.
Thanks for reporting.

I am in a corporate customer program so all scheduled services don't cost anything (including consumables) for 3 years.
The tyres are an issue however. I am guessing to replace OEM tyres will be AUD 600-800 each.
And dude I am telling you, I drive it like my grandmother would....soft as.

hmm, service interval is definitely too soon for a TDi. I am still showing 400 plus days to my 1st service - I do however drive Q7 only at the weekends so I guess that could explain why my 1st service is such a long way off.
I upgraded my wheels to 22" and tyre PSI allround for me is now at 46PSI, found that was best for handling/comfort. I know I have over 11k miles - not sure exact figures. Tyre wear is probably at 25%, hardly much. I am concerned about brake pads and will probably change them for Ceramic pads at 1st service point.
I, like many here, get the bad smell at start up during cold spells however I am used to it now and when the kids are in the car I just blame the youngest for farting on my leathers!!! Bless him, he is only 5 years old and just accepts it...LOL.
Overall, car is just fab, no faults to report and everything works as intended. Best Q7 feauture for me has got to be the Advanced Key coupled with the 'Start/Stop' button. I just luv the get-up and go this allows. No need to fumble around.

I keep my tires at the recommended 44/49. The ride is fine and the wear seems normal through 8,500 miles.
With a 2-1/2 ton (tonne?) car, I think you have to keep an eye on tire pressures and alighment, and rotate the tires at reasonable intervals. Otherwise, you risk eating up the tires.
