Default 2007 AUDI Q7 4.2 CATALYTIC REPLACING WITH AFTERMARKET?

HEY I AM GETTING CODES FOR BAD WARM UP EFFICIENCY ON CATALYTIC CONVERTER, BEING TOLD NEEDED TO REPLACE CAT, HAS ANYBODY HAD EXPERIENCE WITH AFTERMARKET CATS? I SEE MY 4.2 ENGINE CATS ARE CHEAPER THAN THE 3.6. CANT AFFORD THE EXPENSIVE CAT CAN I PUT IN AN AFTERMARKET ONE? I SEE THAT I NEED TWO ONE FOR DRIVER AND ONE FOR PASSENGER. EBAY HAS THEM FAIRLY CHEAP

Has no one had any experience with this? I need to replace because of the flex pipe. No one wants to mess with cutting just the flex pipe because it's located so close to the cat and o2 sensors.

I had all 4 of my cats replaced with aftermarket units at a local muffler shop in Jacksonville, FL, USA. My vehicle is a 2007 Q7 3.6L. It runs just fine. It was expensive though, it costed me 2000.00 USD in FEB 2017.

What are the codes you are getting mate? The 4.2 has 2 air injection valves located at the front of each exhaust manifold that when the engine is warming up it supplues extra fresh air via an electric pump into the exhaust manifold so the first set of catalytic converters can balance the air/fuel mixture. These 2 valves are prone to blocking up with exhaust soot and may possibly be your fault and not the “cats”. Can you post the code numbers?

From my understanding the 3.6 Flex pipes are much easier to replace than the 4.2. I found an aftermarket Cadillac converter flex pipe assembly for 119 from Canada looks exactly the same as the original and the original cost over $1,000 just for the part. I'm hoping I can get it out if not a shop might have to.
