Just bought a CPO 2007 Q7 3.6 Premium. According to the dealer's online car specs it should come with "Universal phone preparation w/Bluetooth technology". Yet, when I push the Tel button , MMI displays message "Phone is not installed". Called dealer - he is saying I might need to buy a separate Bluetooth module? What is the "Universal phone preparation w/Bluetooth technology" then? Many thanks…

First things first - Did you try to enter your phone menu (not the MMI) to seek out a bluetooth signal and synchronize prior to pressing the TEL button on MMI?

You have to pair your phone with the MMI first. My wifes phone is the one paired with ours so unless she's in the car it says no phone

Use your Bluetooth compatible cell phone to pair with it first. After turn the ignition key ON, you should have around 10 minutes to pair your phone with the vehicle Telephone preparation Unit.

You should have to pair the phone before using it. I think you have to go to telephone and then setting, you have to enter a pin number and then you can pair with your phone. You should have detailed instructions in the MMI manual.
