2008 Q7 with 9k miles needs new brakes???
I've had my Q7 for 9 months and have 9k miles on it. After noticing an unusual squeal coming from the brakes (usually after releasing the brake pedal), I took the car in for service. I was then told that this is just normal for the car and cant be fixed. As the noise continued, I took the car in again for service 3 weeks later. This time I was told that the brakes are completely worn out and need to be replaced, and to my amazement, not covered under warranty, as this was normal wear and beyond the 6 month coverage period. Has anyone else had issues with their brakes on their Q7? Is this normal for a car with 9k miles on it? My wife drives the car and by no means does she drive it "hard". This is my 4th Audi but I must say if I have to pay over $1000 for brake replacement after 9 months it most likely will be my last.

My brakes also squeals upon braking. I have about 10K miles. Took the car to the dealer and they said that if there's dirt in the pads then brakes will squeal. I personally think that there was a design flaw. For vehicles at this price range, this is preety sad. BTW, they told me to rinse then brakes with water or brake cleaner sprays when there's brake noise. Hope this helps.

Re: Agree. Should be covered. Call AOA
I did call AOA. They are calling the dealer and will follow up by tomorrow. Dealer specifically said brakes are covered for 6 months/6k miles. Not sure who to believe here.

My wife blew through hers in 12k miles. I bought the pads from audi for 250 bucks
The rotors were still in great shape. Took about 10 mins per side to replace not including the bleeding process.

My dealer says they replace the rotors with pads everytime; is that an Audi thing or a "my dealer" thing? If you only have 9k, perhaps just the pads need to be replaced. Do you think the calipers are dragging on the discs?

Forget the factory brake pads try the Hawk LTS or Ceramic
I just changed my brakes at like 32K miles and I put on the Ceramic (should have tried the LTS) and my wheels are virtualy dust free and I get even bite and no fade in general traffic. The brakes on this vehicle are simply amazing. It seems I also need to replace my rear pads soon as well.
