Default 2008 q7 and just got a vag com to code...

Just purchased a vag com from Ross Tech....awesome little unit however, I am having a heck of a time trying to find info on my year of car. Mine is a 2008 with the 4.2. I wanted to do the needle sweep BUT the screen that appears is yellow and there is no option to change anything. Anyone have other mods that will work for a 2008? Maybe an early year production 2008 and it uses the system from a 2007??
Thanks for any input and codes to help get this beast a bit modded.
Cheers.

Anyone have codes that might be fun to tweak through vag com? I havent figured out a single thing I can do with this to my car yet.

There's tons of stuff to do, first thing you needa do tho is a full scan of all modules and save the results to a file.. If you ****up any coding this file will contain all the original codes.

Is there anything specific your wanting to do? If not just go throughout the modules, open the long coding helper and see what coding tweaks you can make for starters.. There's other stuff that can be done through adaptations but you typically need documentation to help you through that.

Awww perfect. I did do a scan (found a few errors/faults that I need to address). I wanted to do the needle sweep BUT when I try and open up the screen it only comes back with a yellow screen that shows me numbers and wont allow me to open long coding helper. I am at a loss. So far, I have only figured out how to scan things but wont let me change things. I am familiar with the coding due to using it on my S3 (changed a few things) but the Q7 platform is giving me issues with getting into the programing. Strange.

do you have a real ross tech device or a knockoff? If its a knockoff, VCDS is just a demo and you can only look and clear codes, thats it.

Have a real one I ordered from Ross Tech. I need to mess with it more and figure out some things indeed.

post whatever you are able to do.
I have been looking for posts with info about this but they all seem to just end or remain blank.

How do you do a full scan of all the Modules to save the information?
I was looking around mine and did not see that option? just scan all fault codes.
