I'm in the market for a 2012 Q7. I got a hold of the 2012 Options list. Unfortunatley no prices yet. but scanning through the list I can see a couple new things:
1. Audi MMI Navigation now has a data plan. What does that mean?
2. There is a new S Line Plus package that includes 21" titanium rims, black roof rails, gloss black grille surround, and matte black window surrounds.

Can anyone else spot anything else different in the 2012 options list compared to the 2011's?

"Audi Parking System (rear accoustic sensors)"

uh oh. i saw on the Q5 boards that their 2012s will be coming without the rear camera

now i dont see an option for a camera on that Q7 2012 list.

presently the Audi website lists the 2011 Q7 options this way:

"Audi Parking System" is standard on the Premium

"Rear Parking Sensors" are standard on all trims

"Audi Parking System PLUS with rearview camera" is standard on the Premium Plus and Prestige and unavailable on Premium

i dont see anything about "PLUS" or a camera although there seems to be some speculation about Audi just changing the terminology so that the Parking System will include a camera. i dont think thats something they would neglect to mention or assume most would know. also on the new 2012 list they keep saying the word "acoustic" which doesnt appear on the 2011 options list at all

some Q5 folks have spoken to dealers and gotten official word from AoA that the cameras will not be an option for 2012 (at least for a while)....any word on the Q7?

i gotta say man....this might fly on the Q5 but a Q7 is bigger.

i thought all cars must have rear camera by 2014... why would they discontinue this feature now?

from what i was able to gather on the other forum, the cameras are made in japan...its a supply issue. AoA has indicated that they may start putting the cameras back as standard equipment when the Japan supply shortage gets worked out. i guess in this case its not AoA's fault but it still leaves me with 2 questions...

1) does nobody else on the planet make the cameras? for the convenience of your customers maybe you bite the bullet on a more expensive manufacturer until the japan thing gets sorted

2) assuming that AoA eventually gets back to adding cameras in as standard sometime in the 2012 MY, why would anyone want to be the owner of the first set of Q5/Q7s that didnt have a camera? wont that hurt your trade in value when you may be competing with later builds that did include them?

this seems kinda whacked IMO
