Default 2012 Q7 (S-Line) Front LED Signal Lights Condensation

Hello,

Both front LED signal lights recently fogged up and stopped working this past summer after I went through a carwash that had a front bumper sprayer. I managed to get them dried out and they started working but one of them finally packed it in. Unfortunately these are very expensive to purchase and replace. Dealer has quoted me $1800 CAD for both. I'm told that the front bumper needs to be replaced to get to them. I'd like to replacement them myself if possible. I do see that there are screws that face the back of car which I have no idea how to get to them.

Do you really have to remove the whole front bumper to replace these? If so can anyone point me to instructions on how to do so. I've done a internet search and can't find anything.

Thanks!

John

Default LED Indicator lights

Mine also have condensation in them but I cannot remove them since the screws the hand book say remove are in the wrong way only thread showing no screw head visible.

Are you talking about the turn signals? Why do you need to remove the front bumper? just remove the bumper cover and pull it out

Yes I am talking about the LED turn signals . I have removed the grill above the bumper as instructed in the owners manual but the screws which hold the LED light in place cannot be removed since only their thread is showing their heads are inaccessible. The owners manual seems to be giving the wrong instructions

this is all you need to do

I'm not sure what you mean by the heads are inaccessible, unless you are loooking at the wrong thing. maybe a picture would help (it's also possible the original owner may have put something after market there)

I attach a couple of pictures of the screw thread as opposed their heads

You can see condensation in the indicator unit

No screw head

insane. is it screwed in from the other side? wtf would anyone do this. Maybe it was rebuilt after some front damage and they screwed it in incorrectly because that's not the factory default. You will have to remove the front unfortunately

no it was the same on my previous Q7 I hoped someone had a solution. Last time I had to get the dealer to change a light bulb.
