Overlanding as defined by Turo will be essentially, glamping. Dirt roads. It's GPS tracked, so nothing for which articulation would be needed.

But do they look Overlandy ? LOL.

One is going to be on a rear swingaway tire carrier, which is one of the key looks, I think. Still not sure if it's going to look right.

Threw one on while on a jack to check the clearances for brakes and suspension, as it's a 50 offset, and most of the offroad 18's are closer to 25-35, but it looks like it should be fine with the typical 30mm spacer.

There will be some trimming for sure...

It'll need the 30mm spacer

No, I don't think the wheels look "overlandy" at all, but they do look nice (and nice with the beefy tires), which should be a "glamping" plus! LOL

Getting started this weekend...

Found a Cayenne with a 3" lift and the wheels on Bringatrailer. These are 275/65-18's, mine are 275/70-18's. I don't hate them...

Haha, those 275/70s are monsters! Pretty snazzy F150 Lightning, too. Nice.

I have those same wheels....trying to go oversize on the tires some but not to the point where I have to trim or do a lift. 265/65s maybe?

The vehicles with 265/65's didn't quite seem large enough. If you go through the Eurowise gallery, some of them show what they are using. I think that Cayenne has 265/70's.

Here we go... Been sick for a week, and working on finishing up a solar array project to charge our Ford Lightning at the same time. (might be able to see the batteries on the rack and the EG4 hybrid inverter on the wall on the left.)

Have some bent and broken stuff to replace, hood mount support, headlight lens, at least, and a new bumper, grille, and hood. This is it's second front end collision, but both times, it's just broke plastic, never even reaching the aluminum bumper, and thankfully, the intercoolers. I'm thinking about finding a used hood and wrapping it matte black.

Trying to decide if I'm going to replace the shocks while I'm doing all this...Looks like I can get all four in Bilstein B4's for around $700ish.

Still have to pick up the 30mm spacers, and the Winch mount from Eurowise, and it looks like the Hitchgate Switch from Wilco Offroad.

Hey; a great time to upgrade the horn, too!

As for the Lightning project, I love this comment: " .06/KWh is stupid cheap," Amen! I could only dream of that. We pay $0.25/kWh currently.

With our tiered rate system, I think ours works out to $0.17/kWh

This is my first Audi, and I was gaining a lot of respect for the engineering, that takes me back to the first time I realized the oil filter was on the top of the car on my first BMW.

Just when I was thinking, maybe Audi is one of the good guys, and after leaving BMW due to sketchy recent materials analysis on plastic. (just about everywhere it shouldn't be plastic in the engine in BMW's from the last 5-6 years)

Then this...

I think quarter panel removal is one of the more frustrating repair tasks for the DIY'er, and this one was no different, but then you get to finding the LAST bolt, and it's not a bolt...

Aww, Audi, we could have been good together...

A rivet ? Really ?

Got a bit more done. It was already shattered in a number of places, so it ended up easier to just cut out the radiator/intercooler support.

Q7 winch mount ordered from Eurowise. I was wondering exactly what it replaced, and apparently, all of the current bumper mounts. The radiator sits in the the black bumper mount, so it looks like there are radiator mounts built into the Eurowise mount.

Just found out we might be settling a case with an insurance company from a wreck in January where we were hit by a red light runner that just about killed me and put my G/F on crutches for 4 months. I ended up with a couple broken ribs, but if she had hit us another foot to the rear, I might not be here to type this. If they come with the $$$ after actually having to sue them, I just might convert my pain and suffering ( and there was a good bit...) into a set of JRZ coilovers that Eurowise sells as well.
***was a decent meeting with the attorney, just might be picking up the JRZ's...
