Wondering about matte black wrapping the hood and bumper. The bumper here on this one done in Abu Dhabi almost looks like the bumper was done in this pic. It wasn't, I think it's just the exposure.
I'm a big fan of matte black. Looks great in contrast with my Lava Grey Pearl paint. The only chrome trim including badges I have left to switchover is the side window surrounding and roof rails. I was going to wrap them, but it only lasts about 5 years if nothing damages it. I'm going to have it painted instead.
Originally, It was a thought that if I had to ebay a used hood of a different color, I'd just matte black it, but I've found a number of black hood replacements on ebay in pretty good shape. One has a good front fender as well.
Starting to figure out dimensions for whatever I do for a light or bull bar. May modify an existing, or build one of my own... The one in the second pic, is pretty close to where the Eurowise winch mount light bar attachment will end up. Eurowise doesn't actually list a light bar for the Q7, but I'm checking with them, as they have one on one of the Q7's in their gallery.
The one in the pic shows to be 20" high, though, which would put the top of the bar above the hood. That seems too high.
So, the Eurowise site can be difficult to find stuff in if you are looking for Audi setups.
Unfortunately, this has caused me to mis-order, as I finally found what I think I actually want, which is the non-remote reservoir Eurowise Coilovers.
This means I don't need the 3" lift pucks, but still need the 1" subframe drop. I think the suspension needed a refresh anyway, so the difference between new bilsteins, and the coilovers is less than $1.5k. It's nearly worth that to me to not have to use spring compressors...
This will give some adjustability to the setup. I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't go for the JRZ or Bilstein setup, but probably not.
Bilstein coilovers: https://shop.eurowise.com/products/eworbil2085
JRZ: https://shop.eurowise.com/products/eworjrz001
That means the build will be a bit on hold, but I may have a stock set of suspension and 3" pucks for sale for anyone that might want to try this.
Per Eurowise, the Winch mount bumper is finished and on it's way!
No word on Insurance payout yet, so still not sure if I'm just going to add the pucks for now, and the redo it later, or wait to get the coilovers.
If anyone is following this and wants to see amazing content how-to's on it(overlanding these vehicles - Q7, Cayenne, Toureg), this guy...is very detail oriented.
Chromatic is no joke on YT. I watch all his videos....
I mentioned in his last YouTube vid he needs to develop a business charging companies like eurowise to
produce how-to vids. Let him be good at what he does, and leave them to do what they are good at which is awesome lifts for VAG vehicles.
