I just exceeded the extended warranty on my Q7 TDI. No issue so far, but as dreadlocks stated, I would also like to change out the hpfp as a preventive measure. I watched a youtube vid where it shows the timing chain & sprocket that drive the pump. Looks like a major amount of disassembly work is needed to get to it. Once you get access to the pump, you'll need to come up with a a way to secure the drive sprocket in place so the tensioners don't pull it downwards - as you pull the pump drive shaft out of the sprocket. I don't look forward to doing this job but don't really see any alternative.

Audi Q7 CP4 HPFP Failure
My 2013 Q7 TDI pump blew up... It's been more than 48K miles since the emissions settlement service, but I'm under 120K total miles and <10 years since the service. Do you know whether it's covered? Audi is quoting over $20K
its covered by the extended emissions warranty, are you over 120k miles? or 48k miles since it was fixed if you run your VIN through: https://www.audidiesellookup.com/ it will tell you millage it was fixed.
Audi didnt create the part, Bosch supplied it and its been grenading diesels of all makes and models across the board.. just google CP4 HPFP Failure.

Are you < 10 years from the original in service date? If so, as I understand it, you should be covered. Good luck!

The warranty period for the “Extended Emissions Warranty” limited warranty extension shall be the greater of:
1) 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s original in-service date; or 2) 4 years or 48,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date and mileage of the emissions
modification.

HPFP failure is our worst nightmare...!!! Has any do-it-yourselfer out there replaced this pump? I do also recall some other members devising some methods of limiting the fallout of HPFP failure - saving the rest of the fuel system. Any updates on this thread would be greatly appreciated.

Yes...that was my plan....I wish I had done it when I had everything out for the reseal of the EGR and Oil Coolers...but I was in a time crunch. Once everything was back together and leak-free, I fell into the "I know I ought to" mode, but didn't get it done. A search for the HPFP reveals a lot of used pumps out there, and new pumps of unknown origin, etc. When it comes time to buy a new pump, I will just get one from Audi. I know...shame on me for not getting this done yet....

Naw; I kinda felt the same way about mine when I was pulling the top end apart. It was one of those rationalizations of "if it's not broke...." The problem with these is, though, that if it IS broken, then it's already too late. As I still need to address a new internal coolant leak (I've already verified that the valley remains perfectly dry), it may be that this will be the opportunity I take to do the pump, too. I have the Q7 in "mothball" status for now, though, so it may be a next summer project.
