Default 3 spoke vs 4 spoke steering wheel - advice please

hi all,

i cant believe that audi have not designed their sporty 3 spoke wheel to work with side assist and/or lane assist. instead, if these options are ordered you have to go with the standard 4 spoke wheel. bit of a bummer if you order a 4.2 and have to forego the 3 spoke wheel which is standard.

can i please have your view on the 4 spoke wheel vs the 3 spoker. is the wheel much bigger? is finger reach still ok to reach the paddles? is any functionality lost, etc etc?

is it wrong for this pt to really bug me?

thanks,

julie

Default Same size, no functionality lost, however only thing, you loose is SLINE stiching. If you want

paddles on the 4 spoke, be sure to get the $600 EXTRA OPTION for it.

It is a separate option, and is called "4-spoke with gearshift selection"

that wheel will work with lane/side assist and have paddles

I like the 3 spoke steering wheel with paddles. its great. I do not have any experience with the audi 4 spoke, but I had a gx470 4 spoke, and a touareg 4 spoke, but i prefer the 3 spoke.

Default When moving to the 4 spoke to enable assist(s), you don't lose the paddles

As for the s-line stitching....that is another matter. But Exclusive Line nappa leather, contrasting stitching wheel is only available in the 4 spoke- I don't know if you can get the Exclusive Line wheel without the full pack - or if it would look silly anyway if you didnt have the other stitching areas.

Default It's the lane assist that causes you to lose the S line steering wheel...

Audi lane assist uses a motor in the steering wheel (similar to a video game controller). Unfortunately, the beautiful S line three-spoke steering wheel was never designed to have this motor.
