Kind of cool. I dont really know what it is. I always just assumed it was a gear thing based on
my experiance with past cars.I have never really thought about it beyond that.

Air intake change-over valve can make slight whistle...
as can EGR components. Not sure what the arrangement is on your engine.
In relation to anyone else hear this, Chickdr also made comment (after srevice dept checked it out) but that was on the 3.6 engine.
It may be a simple fix if you can find a sympathetic ear but if you are straining to hear it then possibly its just a straight jacket for you and the car goes free;-)
