Default adaptive air suspension...how low does it go?

hey guys,

fellow b5 a4'er here. my parents are lookign at the q7 3.6 premium and were wondering how much lower the q7 with adaptive air suspension goes compared to a q7 w/o the air suspension. reason i sbecause my mom has arthritis and its easier fro her to get in and out of the car when its lower compared to higher. one dealer said it goes down 3 inches from stock ride height. another dealer said it goes down about a inch below stock ride height. which one is true? if it only goes down an inch or so its not worth the $2600!

thanx
vick

Default I don't know what the stock height is of a non air suspension Q7 is but.....

An air suspension equipped Q at it's lowest drivable setting (Dynamic) will leave about a 3 inch gap between the top of the tire and the wheel arch. The air suspension has 1 more setting that will drop the back of the Q and leave a 1.5 inch gap, but this is for loading only and is only accessible by pressing a button in the rear cargo area. BTW I have the 20 inch wheels.

I would suggest looking into the running boards. My wife is somewhat verticly challenged and she would love to have the running boards. She may have to wait because they retail for almost $1000 per side if you don't get the offroad package

But believe me, the adaptive air is worth $2600!!!!!!!!!!!

Default You can lower the back (loading mode) through the MMI as well (I think)

I'll go test that. Or maybe you can just turn it on and off. Can't remember.

Default After driving a 4.2 Premium with it for 2 weeks and a 4.2 base without it, ...

I personally think if money is a consideration, the $2600 is better spent elsewhere. The vehicle still rides great with the steel springs and I opted not to get the air suspension. If it cost $1500 or less, I might feel otherwise.

$2600 represents a lot of racing parts for my toy (see sig), which is why I bought the Q7 as a tow vehicle anyway.
