Advanced Key problems
Hi, my Q7 from 2006 has some trouble with the keyless system.
For starters locks never open by just touching door handles. Handles have to be manually opened once, then locks open and door can be opened normally. According to manual this happens at least when car is in powersaving-mode.
Another thing is that none of the locking buttons in handles work.
Fob batteries have been replaced. Any ideas what do to next? Are all door handles faulty or can it be just one?

I've had all four door handles replaced under warranty due to bad grounds. I've also had the ignition lock cylinder replaced as it had a bad ground and was screwing up the whole smart key system. I don't think the components were very robust in the early years. Since mine was done under warranty, there was no "fixing" of components, just remove and replace. You might want to take a door handle off and take it apart and see what you find. You might be able fix it yourself. Good luck.

Also the faulty door locks remain active causing a drain on the battery and activating the power save mode.
You may have noticed occassional low battery for no apparent reason in quite a short space of time.
Hopefully you can fight a good corner with the info pchansen has given you and resolve all issues.
The fact that they have not been done implies to me this car had a previous owner who stored it indoors without locking up.
Just hope it either does not have a sunroof or the TSB has been carried out!

Are you sure that the handles are causing battery drain now? I don't think the car has really gone in powersave-mode because everything else works as normal.
I can lock the doors without problems with the remote so there is no problem with car locking, I just cannot do it from the handles.
What is the TSB on keyless system? No sunroof but how is that related?
When dealer is fixing this issue are they just replacing the handles or is something else needed?
