Air Suspension, Worth it?
For those who have driven or own a 4.2 Premium w/o the air suspension, how is the ride? Do you regret not getting it? I like my ride to be on the firm side (think BMW w/ sport pkg). While this will be my wife's car, I will be driving it on weekends and vacations.
While I haven't made a decision on which model, I am leaning toward the 4.2 Premium. I just do not if the air suspension is worth $2.5k. It might be but the dealer doesn't one that I can test.
I know this question has been asked but perhaps I can hear from members who haven't posted in the past (as well as those who did).
Regards,
NHman

I love it
But I also get a lot of use out of... Living in the mountains I actually raise the thing up to clear deep snow without getting stuck.
Also the dynamic difference between the comfort and sport modes makes a big difference, to me.
I would not get one without this system.

Re: Air Suspension, Worth it?
Yes!, YEs!, YES!
Sorry, got carried away - it is definetly worth it...I was recently driving down a narrow country lane when I saw a road warning that road ahead was flooded thus all cars must turn back.
Well, I just jacked the car up via MMI to Offroad and I crossed with no drama whilst all other cars turned back.
Air suspension is definitely worth having...IMHO!

We have a 4.2Premium, non-air suspension. Compared to my A4 Avant (which is modded),
the Q7 suspension is a bit on the soft side for my tastes (but is perfect for my wife). Compared to our Touareg, it's pretty good, and compared to other cars we tested, even better. I do think, however, that the handling could be tightened up (maybe just with thicker sway bars)
We did not test the model with air suspension, so I can't comment on what we are or are not missing. Everyone seems to love it, though we certainly aren't missing our $2500 ;-)

We wouldn't have spent the money.
It was already on the car that we were negotiating on ... my wife had to have sycamore green and it was the last one in WA/OR/CA.
I'm not a huge fan. In comfort mode, impact harshness is still almost unacceptable, but yet it flops around when you turn a corner.
I love Audis, but after living with BMWs and Mercs, they just don't do enough suspension tuning. They can't ever seem to get the ride/handling balance correct.
