Anyone experienced the Ipod takes forever to initialize and ocassionally sound cutoff from radio?

I have been using an older 60 gig ipod that I have to unplug and reboot a few times a week, but I think that is either because it is 3 years old, or because it is pretty cold in Chicago right now.
