Audi 2012 Q7 Trunk Auto Lock Problem

Hi guys,
I recently bought my Audi Q7, and love the keyless entry. Problem: I left my keys inside my purse which was inside the trunk and pressed the close latch button only to realize that this locks the ENTIRE car, and I was subsequently locked out after loading all my groceries into the trunk.
Usually if I just close the car door with my key inside the purse (purse inside car), the car door will NOT lock automatically unless I press the little square button on the car door. Why is it that the rear hatch automatically locks everything in the car door?
This would have been tremendously dangerous if my infant babies were in the car!
Does anyone know how to change the default so that it does not auto lock the trunk unless I press the little square button on one of the four handles?
Thanks again,
KK

I don't know about changing the settings but I'm pretty sure it only does the automatic locking off all the doors when closing the back hatch if the doors were all previously locked. i.e. the doors are locked as you walk up to the Q and hit the hatch button on the keyfob.

I closed the boot on my A5 with the keys in a bag in the boot and my wife who was sitting in the passenger seat was trapped in the car when for some reason all the doors locked when I closed the boot. She could not open the doors from the inside either by pulling the usual door opener or by pressing the release button on the doors. It was scary, she eventually got into the boot by lowering the back seats and retreived the keys but it was a very distressing ordeal for her. I find it unbelieveable and inexplicable that you cannot open the doors from the inside. If I had not been there and she was trapped and had nothing to break the windows with, it could have been seriously dangerous or if children were trapped inside. Something needs to be done about this.

It is not supposed to lock when the fob is in the car but sometimes when the fob is in a bag in the trunk the signal is not strong enough.
Solution: tip the car on its side so the bag slides accross and unlocks the door. Joke!
