The latest TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results have been posted. These are for the year ending December 31, 2007.
Thanks to the help of AudiWorld (and JET in particular), we have a result for the Q7. For the 2007, we received an average of 5.3 months of data on 32 SUVs. The stat of 79 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.8 per vehicle) is just a bit worse than average for a 2007 model.
This is the second update in a row where the repair rate has improved for the Q7. This is not unusual for a VAG product. More than others, VAG products tend to have fairly high repair rates when very new, then require relatively few repairs for at least the next year or two. After that is anyone's guess with the Q7--but with quarterly updates TrueDelta will promptly report any significant changes. The next result is always only a few months away, at most.
Everyone who has been helping out with this research, thank you. Those who aren't yet helping out, please consider doing so. I'd especially like to include the 2008 in future updates, but this is going to require more participants.
Full set of results at the link below.<ul><li><a href="http://www.truedelta.com/latest_results.php">Vehicle Reliabiity Survey results, year ending 12-31-2007</a></li></ul>

join this if they have a problem.
If he could get more people to sign up at purchase or without fault maybe it would get better.
Either way the more that sign up the truer the true delta will be!!!
Got to go get food.

People often suspect that those with problems will be more likely to sign up and report them.
But the method largely corrects for this by only letting people report problems going forward, with the exception of the current month. So people cannot sign up and report a bunch of stuff that happened in the past. And no one can know what will happen in the future.
As a result, 70-80 percent of those who participate report no problems during the first six months. And my repair rates are in line with those reported by JD Power.
For some models, I've had dozens of owners who've reported zero or one problems--total.
In other words, what you suggest already seems to be happening.

We're still talking about an average that is below one repair trip per car per year. This is why, unlike others, I post the actual numbers: so people can see that even "below average" cars usually aren't all that bad.
