Default Back to the Dealership with my new Q7

I posted previously that I had to bring in my Q7 with 500 miles because the CEL light went on. The diagnosis was "sparodic engine mis-fires" and I was sent on my way with the explanation that this was an anomaly.
Well - the Q7 was shaking violently this morning on startup, less than 1 week later, and the CEL light comes on again! The dealership says bring it in next week, they'll give me a loaner since they will need some time with the car. ARRRGH!

This will be strike 2 (they get 4) for the Illinois Lemon Law. I feel like I should just demand a new car right now before this goes further!

That certainly is not a good way to start out.

Sounds like a coilpack problem.

Unfortunately, you have to go through the process before you can make demands (for a new car)

2nd. I wonder if they washed the engine bay improperly when they prepped your car

I had an early misfire problem. Dealer replaced ignition wires and the problem went away.

Default Car back from dealer - update

Well - they had my car in the shop for about a week. They tried swapping the coil, and the sparkplugs - no joy. Finally noticed that the fuel injector for that cylinder was leaking. Took awhile to get the parts, and they needed a few days to let it sit overnight and get cold. Seems that when cold the seal would leak, and as it warmed up it re-sealed?? Sure seems strange this passed factory QA!

Anyway, I hope this is the last time I see them until my 5k service. Nice guys, but you don't want to have a personal relationship with the service manager when you pay that much brand new.

Now I can focus on which mods I want to do first. Need to go slow so wifey doesn't notice.

Default I'll never buy a Q7 ... too many problems already

Aside from the battery dying, I've just read so many crazy things about this car. I'll always go with the A6 Avant. I've put 50,000 miles on my 2006 A6 Avant and not a single problem whatsoever. Just changed oil, filter and the usual .. plus new tires at 45,000 miles. And I get 26 - 26.5 MPG on my A6 Avant.

Good luck on the Q7.
