Battery Issues on 07 Q7 4.2
Hi All,
I notice the battery is very quick to discharge ...
If one is not careful to hit the "Stop" button 2 times on the Audi Advance Key system, battery can discharge within a few hours.
Also last weekend, our little puppy activated the radio by stepping on the power/volume button in the front middle panel and battery would not start!
Have you fellows experienced this also?

Get them to check your door locks are not staying active after locking. Also take a read through the spreadsheet elec faults column to see if anything else looks likely. It is compliled from reports here since the Q7 was introduced. You can view in list mode which will enable you to select only MY07 or download to excel and make sorting easier.
Some of the early Q7s had a problem with an earth from the ignition switch itself which prevented proper shut down.
Audi's early knee jerk reaction was to replace batteries but that never sorted the problems. I think you will find the most common fault is (or rather was) door locks.

We had the same issues. It turned out to be a bad ignition switch as stated above. Another symptom was an extremely short range on the remote lock/unlock on the key fob. Also, the SmartKey had a very hard time locking/unlocking the doors when you touched the handles. Once the switch (that part where the key goes) was replaced, everything- including the battery was as it should be.
