Default big door ding...

usually, when i walk out my door, i can see the q7 or a4 in the driveway. i like to be greeted with a shiny car, and i can admire how nicely built the vehicle is.

but on saturday, as i walk out the door, i noticed this HUGE DOOR DING ON THE Q7.

boy, i just stood there staring at it, feeling my blood boil. finally my wife came out, and wondered what the hell i was staring at.

then she just stood there, and i felt her blood start to boil.

this thing looks like a level 5 door dinger. it's right on the crease on the driver rear door.

we didn't notice when exactly it happened, but it was after spending some time in nyc.

i wish people would be a bit more considerate.

Default Try Paintless Dent Repair AKA Dent Doctor, etc.

I feel for you man...Nothing gets me fuming like things like this.

If the dent doesn't pierce the paint and is in the middle of the panel you'll be suprised at the results for about $80 a dent. These guys also wet-sand out the scuffing so it is not as noticable.

We had a similar dent experience with our former Lexus. It looked like someone repeatedly opened their door into the side of ours. I took it to the local PDR repairer and he he brought it back to about 95% of original condition. This will depend on how bad this dent is and where it is located. Sometimes, if they cannot get to it from the other side of the panel due to a cross-member or lack of an access point, you will be SOL but experienced PDR technicians can usually find a way. The poor ones will attempt to drill a hole and pull it out - don't go for this method.

Good Luck

Default tell them to watch the window glass when they do the PDR

They will often reach between the window glass and weatherstripping with the PDR tools (flat metal bars with special ends designed to gently tool-out the ding). Tell themm to watch the window glass, as it's coated and prone to scratching. Better practice is to remove the interior door panel if possible.
