Default Brake light bulbs keep melting???

I'm hoping someone here can help with this. I have two break lights that keep going out. The actual bulb appears to be fine but they are melting at the connector. So bizzare. Anyone have this issue or know what's causing it? I've attached a pic of what I'm talking about.
Thanks!

Probably heat due to poor contacts (oxidised) on your bulb socket contacts.

Clean up properly, check contacts and try again fresh bulbs.

Try to pull up the centre part contact in the bulb holder, if you can, without breaking it.

My drivers side rears kept doing that too. My fix was to make sure I was using the correct 7506 bulb, make sure it's a 7506, not an equivalent 1156 type.

Next, get some needle nose pliers and pull up FIRMLY on the spring metal contact at the bottom of the plastic bulb socket to make sure it's pressing FIRMLY on the bottom of the bulb. It wouldn't hurt to goop the area with bulb grease too. Try it--it works!

What year is your truck? On the older Q7s he have had a lot of people come in and replace the bulb harness. Mostly due faulting out bulbs constantly.

Try to clean up the socket and "adjust" the metal contact as best you can. If the problem continues and you want to replace the sockets, we have the set in stock ready to ship for $58(p/n 4L0 945 221 B) per side on our site.

That did the trick!! I didn't check the bulbs for the numbers but I'm going to order the ones you mentioned just to have them on hand along with some
Bulb grease.

Thank you!!

It's an 07' so it's old. I had actually looked for the sockets online and couldn't find any, must not have been using the right keywords. If it keeps going out I will definitely go the route of replacing the sockets and I will hit your site up when I do.

Thanks!!

This solution works: solder a wire onto the positive tip of the bulb. Bore a small hole in the lamp holder and feed the wire through. Insert bulb as normal. Cut the positive wire feeding the lamp holder. Insulate to wire going to the bulb holder and attach the other to your new wire from the soldered bulb.
