Newbie here and nervous about not using original equipment. Just got quoted $1500 for front rotors and pads and $1100 for rears in addition to monitoring front left engine mount with a slight leak quoted at $1000. Any advice is appreciated. One other question: Considering a non dealership mechanic to get the work done. Live in the Philadelphia metro if this helps. Thanks.

I just ordered all OEM brake components front and back for $700, just waiting for it to get above freezing and I'll go do em in my driveway in an hour or two.. if your not under lease/warranty do not go to a dealer, find an indy.

Are you still under warranty?

If not have you tried pricing our the brake parts thru a Pep boys or Advance Auto?

Ive done brakes tons of times on my own cars over the years. If you want, I could help you with yours.

Although I havent done them on an Audi. I think one of the main differences are the hex or square lugs needed to remove the nuts.

Did you get them from Audi or from a Pepboys Advance Auto type of store?

I ordered em from https://www.fcpeuro.com/ I really really doubt you'll find any OEM brake components at Pepboys/Advanced Auto..

We got Brembo Big Brake kits from the factory, IMO you should only be putting OEM or better components back on.. Budget aftermarket brakes for these is a rather bad idea, best case your braking power goes down the tubes, worst case ends in tears.

Ive actually changed brakes on everything from BMWs and Benzs to Corvettes and Fords (I buy and sell a lot of cars).

Ive always used aftermarket brakes and rotors depending on where I was able to get the best deal.

Ive never had a problem.

With some cars, you have to replace or reuse the brake sensors but theyre generally very cheap $10 or so.

Just checked Advance Autos site and it looks like they have compatible brakes and rotors.

But thats just my experience.

Checked your site as well, prices arent that bad.

Another great site is https://www.rockauto.com/

Those Brembo Ceramic pads are garbage and greatly reduce your stopping power, so go for it I guess.. I stuck w/OEM Semi Metallic compounds because I enjoy the current performance just fine.. You can read this forum and find just about everyone whom tried cermaic to help w/brake dust decided to toss em and go back to metallic because while they might work for some lil sports car they dont for a large suv.. dont trust em just because they say Brembo

I doubt any of those vehicles you did brakes on had 350mm rotors, even my RS6 only had 335mm rotors (that cost $600 EACH), the Audi Q7 came with absolutely AMAZING brakes from the factory, you'd be hard pressed to make em better but you can most definitely make them worse.. We have calipers that let you swap pads out w/out removing calipers, thats a feature very rare in street vehicles.

After the $2400 DIY brake job on my RS6, $700 to put all OEM components back on a Q7 seems like a rather good deal for such performance.. you could spend $1200 and put drilled/slotted rotors on it and some super aggressive compounds and I dont think the performance increase would be that impressive, not like it would with other vehicles that come with marginally decent brakes from factory and just about anything is an upgrade.
